This was the first night of nine weeks in Europe. A beautiful welcome.

View of the landscape in Arenas de San Pedro about an hour and a half outside of Madrid.
Before the trip my brother Aaron recommended I pick up a Holga camera. After getting my shots back from this summer, I am very thankful for that suggestion.
The Holga was first made in 1982 in Hong Kong. Although it is cheaply made (you can get some models for 27 bucks) it gives unique and beautiful results with an aesthetic all its own.
Here are three shots from Alicante, a beautiful city on the Southwest coast of Spain. I didn’t see these images for 3 months after I took them, but for me, it was worth the wait.
or “Empty Construction” located in San Sebastian, Spain. This sculpture was done by Jorge Oteiza who died in San Sebastian (and presumably lived at least part of his life there). He was also a writer who wrote an important essay about the history and aesthetics of Basque art.

This cathedral, called Sagrada Familia, is one of the most unique churches in the world and is considered the masterwork of the Spanish artchitect Antoni Gaudi. The building was started in 1882 and Gaudi devoted the last 15 years of his life to the project (he died in 1926) but the project is still under construction. It is expected to take until 2026 for it to be finished.
